My daughter had her 4 impacted wisdom teeth extracted about 24 hours ago. The doctor called to check up on her about 8 hours after the surgery, & said she needed to take the gauze off, even though there was still a bit of bleeding. Keeping the gauze on will continue to allow the blood not to fully clot, especially if you keep changing it.
Heck, she had a Chik Fil A sandwich tonite (albeit, cut in very small pieces!), & she continues to stay away from straws.
Good luck to you... take the gauze off, let it be. If you are spitting a lot of blood, you need to call the dentist. Hopefully you're not in pain! :-)

if it's still bleeding after that amount of time, try a lukewarm, wet tea bag; my aftercare sheet says an ingredient in tea helps to clot blood. i just had mine out 5 days ago & the bleeding lasted about an hour. if you have any serious questions, call you oral surgeon or maybe just a doctor in general. good luck!
