You already said you cannot afford to have an appliance made but yet that is what people are telling you. Be that as it may, you have a problem that has the dental & medical profession baffled for years. There is no quick remedy & there is no cheap solution to clenching at night. Rest assured that it is very common & the amount of stress in your life increases it. Unfortunately, it is a problem that dentists do not yet know how to treat effectively except by having you wear a special appliance but that is not an option for you & that does not stop the clenching, it just lessens the damage it does to your teeth & jaw muscles. A "home remedy" would be to have a vigorous workout to tire yourself out so that you can fall asleep exhausted. This may lessen the clenching. My dentist fitted me for a mouth guard called an NTI. It is the best thing I ever got from my dentist. It actually does stop the clenching because of the way it is designed.
