Tooth Answers

When your tooth is being prepared for a crown do they get rid of all of your tooth/filling & cement the crown into place over the bottom of the tooth to cover & protect the roots, or do you still see the old tooth around the crown

i know cheese is supposed to be good for stopping tooth decay. are there any other things other than brushing your teeth all the time. something that i can eat that is nice but good for my teeth, maby to kill the bacteria that make them bad?

I want to get my lip pierced but I have heard it chips at the enamel on your teeth.
Is there anything I can do to protect my teeth if I do get it pierced?

My mother was brutally attacked 5 months ago. She was left to die. My mother is 55 years old. She went to the store at 11p.m. at night. A man was outside watching her as she pulled into the garage. She left the garage open while she unloaded groceries. She has a SUV so she can’t close the garage while the back is open. She remembers seeing a man stare at her at the end of the drive way so she quickly went & shut the garage but he went underneath which made the garage door go back up. He forced his way in her house & nearly beat her to death. She spent almost 2 months in the hospital.
The police screwed up to start with. Some how my mom came to around 2 a.m. & called 911 to say she was bleeding. She had slurred speech & couldn’t give her address.
Police thought she was drunk. They arrived to a horrible crime scene. Blood pools all over the kitchen, blood spatter on the walls, counter tops, & appliances etc. My mothers teeth were knocked out & on the floor etc.
Police walked right through the crime scene…contaminating it. They did not file it as a crime. They said she was drunk & fell…she has a one story house.
After learning of her injuries which included, all four of her left ribs fractured, 2 right ribs fractured, right forearm fracture, right shoulder shattered, vertebrate fracture, skull fracture, punctured lung, all of her facial bones were fractured, two black eyes, bruises covered her body. My mom is type 1 diabetic & has a number of health conditions before this.
My mom didn’t have any alcohol..none in the house. I obtained video surveillance from the grocery store she went to…proved she wasn’t drunk.
Anyway, I called & raised hell with the police dept. they finally sent crime scene to the house 7 hours later after it was contaminated.
Now the detective apologizes for the screw up & apologizes for assuming she was drunk. I can accept that..fine.
Problem now is my mom saw her attacker walk by her house last weekend. She’s been having panic attacks ever since. She’s been home from the hospital for a few months & is not paranoid of everyone she sees. This is the man that attacked her.
The detective isn’t doing a damn thing. My mom found cigarette butts outside her kitchen window.
I’m worried about my mom. I thought about going straight to the D.A. Will that do any good? I live about 30 min. away from her & have kids. I tried to get her to stay with me but she wants to be home.
She lives in a nice neighborhood. The neighbors are shocked.
Please any suggestions on how to get the police do protect her & at least question this guy. He’s been seen several times…he has to live in the area.

I wasn’t able to take care of it when the hole started in the summer because I had no money. Finally got caught up on my bills last week & I have a dentists appointment for next Tuesday. Any chance that it might still just be fillable? And anything I can use to protect it in the meantime? I’ve been keeping it pretty clean, & it’s not all black, just a little brown, but it did start hurting a little this morning when I suck on my teeth. It doesn’t hurt on its own, just if theres pressure around it…

I was scammed by CleanWhites & Dazzlesmile. I signed up for two free trials for teeth whitening. They charged me a few charges amounting to about $55. I am willing to stomach this but want to ensure I have not more charges & issues with the companies. I cancelled my debit card/ account & and savings account. I now have a new checking & savings account.
I havve not sent the stuff back because they will charge me for shipping.
By cancelling my card & accounts have I done enough to protect myself future consequences from my lapse in judgement (signing up for these free trials in the first place)?

i have so many different colors from caps & things in my teeth its like a rainbow, the dentist says umm honey you cant use anymore whitening toothpaste…so i’ve switched to regular crest tartar control, theres that & a colgate brand i found that have the fluoride to protect from cavities, but they are all lacking that minty just brushed taste.
whats a MINTY toothbrush i could buy.

and bruse teeth .. ??

I used one of the Crest White Strips last night (part of that Radiance system that has three strips to be used once a week for 3 weeks & a toothpaste to help protect enamel to be used daily). Anyway, it was my second week & Ive never had a problem with sensitivity before- this morning when I woke up I felt fine, but now that Ive been at work it’s getting worse & worse. Does anyone know of something that I can do (at work) that will at least ease the pain on the tips of the front 4 teeth?

I know from Microbiology that cavities are formed by specific types of bacteria that eats sugar therefore causeing a cavity in the tooth, so if Hydrogen Peroxide kills bacteria (assumeing that it can kill this certain type) would’nt it protect against cavities. Thanks for your answers! Jamie

My dog is 2 & half years old, he is a rottweiller cross & domineering. I would like to take him in the car, but he starts barking, going crazy & protecting his territory, starts showing his teeth & growling, his behavior is annoying.

I was curious if there is an application that can remove the sealants so a fresh fresh sealant can be appiled?

I recently got a Chow Chow mix (mostly Chow Chow but with Golden retreiver in him) Anyway I got him from a family who could not care for him anymore. He is supposed to be 18 months old but he was adopted from the shelter when he was 7 months & shelters can’t guess age really good they said my border collie was one year old & he was missing allot of teeth & graying the vet said he was about 7 years old. ANYWAY he is a very loyal dog I take care of him I feed him take him on walks & he sleeps in my room & I play with him. Whenever I am in the living room reading or on the computer he will lay down by my feet & will follow me everywhere. He seems friendly to my friends but when my dad walked out to the living room he started barking tonight when he came home from work he didnt bark but my dad went to go pet him & he growled & backed away. I just fake smack me & see what he would do & the dog didnt do anything he just shyed away. How do i know if my dog will protect me if i am in real danger. I get picked on from school & when i am walking him people always come & pick on me like pushing me tot he ground & kick me. Would he protect me or do you think that he would shy away like he did with my dad? I have had him for about three weeks.
Oh & about his age he maybe has a little gray under his chin i thought that was normal but his back teeth were missing from each side. His teeth are pure white & don’t look bad but does that mean that he is a old dog. I took him to the vet but it never crossed my mind to see his age.

I was told by my ortho that I need to keep my teeth cleaner than they are. I already floss EVERY NIGHT & I use Listerine Once Per Day (most days). I obviously brush twice aday, & sometimes three times per day. I switch tooth brushes every month. I wear braces (over 3 years). Does that mean I need a special tooth brush? I also get my teeth cleaned every 3 to 4 months because of this problem. I was told that unfortunately, some people just naturally accumulate more calculus (tartar) than others. Is there any way I can improve my smile & protect my gums BETTER?

My 4 year old needs caps on her teeth. For years they would only do silver caps, but now they offer them with a porcelain front to make her teeth look white. The dentist said that there is an increase risk of an abscess with the porcelain. I would appreciate any advice on this. My first thought was to go with the white teeth, to help protect her self esteem.

After two permanent root canal are done, my dentist suggested me that I need to do 4 fillings with Porcelain cuz my teeth got lot of cavities.Everything is good now except I need 4 fillings & that’s it. It’s all good. He will charge me $125 each before discount, with discount I might pay around $100 each & total $400 altogether. I dont mind paying extra $400 to help protect my teeth from cavities or deep decay later on. But, have any of you ever have fillings before? With Porcelain, how does it look? is it natural looking & does it damage your teeth later on? because he will make a little hole & then fill it up with porcelain. Right now, my teeth didnt have any hole. I hate it when they dig a hole & put a fill in. I think I just go ahead & do the crown on my 2 permanent root canals that he done today & just forget or wait later on to do the fill in for those 4 teeth. Right now, it didnt hurt me at all. Please give me any advice/opinion.

I’m 29 weeks pregnant & i’m on medicaide insurance, full plan. I told my doctor today about the problems i’ve been having with my teeth. I have two really bad cavities, & he told me to go ahead & take the advantage of being on medicaide & go to the dentist & get it fixed, that they could put a sheild like thing over my belly that will protect the baby when I get my my x ray done to see how bad off my teeth are. Anyway my dentist appt is this thursday, my husband made the appt. because he is going to have to go with my & watch our 2 year old while I get my two teeth filled. So I didnt acturally get to talk to the dentist, but I do know that I WILL be able to get my two teeth filled. What all else can I get done to my teeth, since i’ll be pregnant & all? Braces, teeth pulled, cleaned? This is the only time I’ll get to get my teeth fixed, because i’ll be cut off medicaide after I have the baby, so I need to take advantage of it now. Thanks in advance!
Also i live in South Carolina, does medicade cover braces?

If you had the choice to chew bubblegum till your teeth fell out of not chew it & still have your teeth fall out, which would you choose????
(keep in mind that I am extremly PREJUDICE when it comes to Bubble Gum, especially DUBBLEBUBBLE Fruit flavor, & I will do anything to acquire & protect it from evil gum-haters!)

i brush my teeth 3 times a day & floss,everyday,and there really clean.butt on my two front teeth the enamel is coming off because i like to eat alot of citrus fruit.i know that you can’t re-build it & stuff,but is there a way to like..protect or can the dentist do something?
